Flood recovery events

The June 2013 flash flooding devastated the towns of Black Diamond and Turner Valley, washing out the Highway 22 bridge connecting the communities and destroying a local water treatment plant. Three weeks after the flood, Ministers McIver and Fawcett joined local municipal leaders to open a completely rebuilt bridge to reconnect the towns. Ten days later, Minister Fawcett returned to announce funding for a new drinking water pipe to restore supply to Black Diamond. I coordinated both media events, garnering strong media coverage and enthusiastic local support.
